OUR STORY

Freedom House Recovery Center has supported individuals living with behavioral health diagnoses and their families on the journey toward true freedom since 1974. With a holistic, person-centered approach to treatment, we offer a broad array of services designed to stabilize, support, and enhance the lives of people living with mental health and/or substance use challenges.

Freedom House began as a small detox center and residential program serving just ten people. Over time, our commitment to compassionate care and community healing helped us grow into one of the largest providers of behavioral health services in the region. We are headquartered in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with additional outpatient clinics in Durham, Roxboro, and Warrenton.

Today, our continuum of care includes six residential services programs for substance use recovery programs across several counties, a 16-bed facility-based crisis unit, and a 24/7/365 mobile crisis team. Every service we offer is grounded in the belief that recovery is possible and that everyone deserves a meaningful life full of purpose.
